Plugged-In Contemporary Worship
We have three Worship Services at Kitty Hawk UMC. People often wonder about “church clothes”; here at KHUMC we believe that if you are in church and you are wearing clothes, you are wearing “church clothes”! Seriously, we know that visitors to our beaches don’t pack dressy outfits and we don’t want that to be any reason for you to not come to church. You will see flip flops, business suits, t-shirts, ballcaps….maybe even on the same guy! So come as you are and you’ll fit right in.
At 8:30 and 11:00 on Sunday mornings we feature a relaxed traditional worship with a chancel choir, piano, organ and hymn singing from our United Methodist Hymnal. We typically follow the lectionary, unless we don’t feel like it on the occasional Sunday.
Both Sunday Services offer a Childrens Moment, after which children are invited to go to Childrens Church. Our nursery is open from 8:30 to noon on Sundays for infants and toddlers.
7:00 p.m. On Monday nights, we are all plugged into our Contemporary Worship Service, which we call the Spirit Cafe. Jeans are the dress uniform of the night for our “Joyfull Noise” Praise Band, whose unique instrumentation includes a drum set, electric guitars, a mandolin and occasionally a bongo drum. Their style is an uplifting blend of praise, bluegrass and contemporary Christian music. This is the perfect shorts and t-shirt service. This casual service is held in the Fellowship Hall, because we eat ice cream afterward.
